Send your updated email address to kenyart@prairieinet.net Solo Competition: Saturday, Nov. 7th @ Pella High School Solo Competition Entry fee: $45/dancer Team Competition: December 4-5, 2009 @ Vets Auditorium and HyVee Hall. Oct. 1 is the deadline for all forms. Registration forms must be complete with # of Soloists, Soloist names, Team categories, # of performers and form of payment. Forms not complying will be rejected. Team Trophies: 1st-5th place trophies will all be the same size. Team Set-Up: Teams entered in categories with a set-up time may enter from both corners (Entrance and Exit) to expedite your set-up time. However, teams will have to exit only at the exit corner of the floor. Set-Up and Take-Down time remains at one minute which starts when a team member crosses the performance floor black boundary line (actual basketball court). The set-up time means all Team Helpers should be off the performance floor. Team Spectator Admission Prices: $10/day and $18/2-day pass Critiquing for Solos and Team: SOLOS: Judges’ critiques will be captured on Digital Recorders and transferred to a Flash Drive that will included in the scoresheet packet. Each soloist will also receive a DVD of their solo performance. School packet would include solo scoresheets, flash drive with critiques and individual performances on DVD. TEAM: Judges’ critiques (3) will be captured on Digital Recorders and transferred to a flash drive. One Judge will critique over the video of the performance. School packet will include scoresheets and a flash drive with critiques. Video would not be the same quality as a regular DVD. Wheel Rule Clarification: Allowed: Rubber-tire wheels filled with air (i.e. bike tires) are acceptable as long as they do not make black marks on the floor. Not allowed: Hard caster wheels of any kind will not be allowed. Iowa Events Center policy requests only air-filled rubber tires be allowed on the performance floor (basketball courts) for entrance, exit and during the routine. All violating props or backdrops will not be allowed on the performance with caster wheels attached. All props/backdrops must be safeguarded on the bottom with either carpet, felt or some type of fabric to avoiding damage to the basketball floor. Transfer of Student for Participation: In order for a student to participate in another’s schools program, the following guidelines must be followed: 1) School student attends does not offer any dance/drill team program 2) Both schools involved must agree on having a student participate in another school’s dance/drill team program. 3) Both schools, student and parent must agree to all conditions. 4) Administrators from both schools, student and parent must complete the Transfer form. 5) Transfer form must accompany the ISDTA State Registration form and must be postmarked by October 1. Forms submitted after that date will not be accepted. 6) Schools involved understand the two schools involved will have a total combined enrollment (BEDS document) to determine their ISDTA State Classification. 7) Transfer form will be available from the isdta website (isdta.net) ADA (American Disability Act) Provision: Exception to Rule (Handbook pg. 34): “Same number and same persons must enter every category except for All-Male, Coed, Show and Color Guard.” In accordance with the Americans with Disability Act, persons who qualify (see definition) may participate in only one or more of the categories if their team appropriately files for an Exemption from the rule stating that all team contestants must participate in all categories entered. For example: a person in a wheelchair might be able to perform a prop, pom, novelty or light routine but not a “dance” routine. ADA disability definition: That is a person whose disability or injury can't be accommodated with meds only and interferes with the activities of daily living. This includes autistic and downs syndrome. *This does not apply to a temporary injury such as knee surgery, rolled ankle, pulled hamstring, etc. The permanent disability must fall under the restrictions of ADA. *Note: Person must be a regular member of the team throughout the year. Upon request, ISDTA will allow an assistant to accompany the dancer if needed. ISDTA Rule now states: Same # of dancers/and same dancers per team category except for Coed/All-Male/Color Guard and Show Production. We will allow a difference in # of performers only if the performer falls under the definition of ADA. To qualify for the variance in #’s for multiple team performances, complete the proper form and submit with the registration form. Form must be postmarked October 1. Application form online @ isdta.net Music Lyrics: Continue to monitor the lyrics of the music you are performing to. Deductions will be given for music or words unsuitable for family listening, which includes but is not limited to swearwords and connotations of any type of sexual act or behavior, drugs, mention of specific parts of the body torso, and/or violent acts or behavior.
